Well is there a way to do the same thing in another way without cluttering up the composition with hundreds of layers?

I want to do something like this in an expression:

thisComp.layer("XX").source = thisComp.layer("YY").source

So I can dynamically swap out source footage in an expression (not a script).

Possible in CS4?
