Can you manipulate layers in one comp from another. I am trying to:

A: To rotate columns using a slider expression that are nested twice because of an effect I used that required this.

B: I am also using 3d obj's through 3d Invigirator, and wish to control/parent the camera in the other comp with the one in the main.

I did accomplish accessing a nested comp using the expression slider, but since as I said the one is nested... nested.

Thank you for your time.

By dissecting another AE comp, I stumbled upon a very obvious answer. Being new at this, I was working back instead of forward.

By going to the layer in the pre-comp and using this expression:

comp("Comp").layer("Layer").effect("Slider Control")("Slider")

I was successful in controlling it. I have not tried the Pre-comp to Pre-comp to Comp. But i guess by using another dummy layer it would work.

I am using it to rotate some columns in a 3d/2d intro for a program i am working on. All 40 seconds... All AE.

Hope this helps someone out there. i am sure glad I am part of this Group.

Thanks
