3D text extrusion...A la Belief Design

Hey all...

I am trying to create this type effect viewed here:

http://www.beliefdesign.com/stage/index ... height=360

And actually...Aaron Cobb in the AE forums wrote an expression that worked great to get the fluid movement/"bounce" if you will on the type using the expression selector on a text layer. What I would like to know, is how they achieved the extrusion and consequently colored the extrusion in the way that they did. At first I thought it might have made use of Trapcode's Echospace, but the extrusion is too perfect as in it looks like a 3D extrusion and not a pseudo extrusion.

Maybe they used Cinema 4D's text animators and imported the camera Data?. I put it to you gurus...Any ideas on how this type of effect can be achieved?

I would guess that it was made in after effects using the copy text into z-space technique.

Then I would visit http://www.motionscript.com and use Dan's bounce code.

You can fake the look somewhat satisfactorily with duplicate text layers, but it looks to me like they did this with a 3D plugin or app. Check out "Quick Fix Meals" when it overshoots right up to the camera halfway through the spot. Those look like genuine 3D extrusions.

Hey. You could also check out the 3DShapeExtruder on http://maltaannon.com/articles/after-ef ... eextruder/
It won't allow you to create that kind of animation you showed in the link, but there is a project
that is inspired by exactly that piece of video, and I can tell you today that it is possible to achieve
in After Effects very easily.

The tutorial is not out yet, but you can read about it here:
