What type of scripts do you need?

Hi all,
I need to render checker frames for a client.
lets say I have 1 comp with 20 text layers that do not overlap.
I'd like to render out a frame of each layer with the text as the file name instead of comp name or frame#.
I went into the "Output to" drop down but there wasn't a "Layer name" property.

I envision it like so:
first layer get name ( maybe use the first 8 letters?) , get duration use the middle frame, (or could be a variable like 10 frames in, or could be 1st middle and last frame for scale or effect samples)
Render frame
next layer (rinse and repeat as necessary)

I'm an idiot at programing so any help would be great.
thanks to all

Lloyd,
thanks for the tip.
It looks like a start.
When I select all of the layers and "Layer in/out"
I only get a "render" button and after pressing it it does nothing.
however if I select "work area" or "entire comp" I can put them in the que.
Not a big problem but I just need one frame.

I guess I'll start digging in the script and see what kind of a mess I can make
thanks again, I'll contact Mr. Almasol and see if he has any ideas
