Getting a source text out of "Basic Text" effect

how can I retrieve the source text from the effect called "Basic Text"?
this effect has properties such as Position, Size, Tracking, and Composite On Original. In order to edit text, I need to click "Edit Text..." that sits right next to "Reset" in Switches/Modes column.
