trimming and sequencing layers.

so here is what i am looking for, and i don't know if this is possible. i would like to find or learn to make a script that does the following:

i want to select a number of files (images) in the project files window. i would then like it to divide the length of the composition by the number of images, add 1 more second and jump to that number in the timecode. i would then like it to trim the end length of all these layers. then i would like it to run the keyframe assistant >> sequence layers with a 1 second overlay, front to back dissolve. then add keyframes for a 1 second opacity fadeout on the last layer.

does this sound like something that can be automated through scripting??
