Replacing footage files

Hi
I'm trying to import a complete project from Canopus Edius into AE. It's actually simple enough. I export an AAF file from Edius and import it into AE, no problems. The thing is, that I'm using P2 footage from a HVX200. Now AE supports these video files, but when they are imported from the AAF they are all linked to corresponding .xml files (the HVX generates .mxf files for video and .xml for metadata). It's a fairly simple thing to select one of these .xml files and replace it with the right .mxf file and then everything works. But it has to be done manually for each file, and I have a lot of files.
So what I'm looking for is a simple script, that will loop over all footage files (say, in a specific folder inside AE), and replace all the .xml files with .mxf.
Can anybody help me with this?
