I'm new to ae scripting and need help keeping a text layer centered.
I have an external source of text for a text layer and when i change it, the layer moves to the right of the composition. I centered it in the comp and want it to remain there no matter the length of the string. Is there a way to do this? Is there a center attribute somewhere? I was also if theres a way to get the layers width and then move it back by an offset, but that would be dependant on font size wouldnt it?

I'm guessing you've got the text "Left Aligned" and have manually centered it.
If you have an existing text layer that your changing the source text on, you just need to select the layer and choose the "Center Text" option from the Paragraph panel. When the source text is updated it should still be centered.
