automating multi sequence loading

I’m sure you've encounter my problem.
I have a folder with multiple image sequences (20 sequences, each one over 100 frames, Maya rendered).
When I’m importing them into after fx 6.5, I need to select each sequence first frame and tag it as a sequence.
The problem arise when I need to navigate through 2000 files or so, it is very time consuming and not intuitive (and I need to that on each shot). I saw that there’s a script called “SmartImport.jsx†that I think suppose to import sequences from a folder, but my tests showed that it doesn’t really work.
So…..
Does anyone have an idea/trick/script/direction on how to load multiple sequences from a single folder? Or a way to view only the sequences, and not the frames files (like in shake)?
