XMP error when adding footage to comp/ Possible work arounds

Hey everyone,
I recently have been writing a script that loads in a Tiff and adds it to a comp. The tiff file was rendered out in a different project thru AE so AE should have no issues with it. When I try to add the image footage to a comp via scripting I run into this error: "After Effects error: Error reading XMP metadata from file ...." The error does not happen if I were to add the image to a comp manually which makes me wonder whats going on. I can disable XMP in the Media and Disk Cache options in which case the script works as expected. However, I would like to run this script on various computers in our office and changing the option on each computer would be very time consuming and might not be a solution if something is going wrong in the script.
Question is: Is there a way I can bypass/avoid the XMP stuff altogether via scripting? or Disable the XMP options via scripting?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
