Moving the playhead (CTI) a set number frames

Hi all,
My first post here - although I have read and benefited from much excellent advice
I'm an experienced AE user - but a total scripting newby.
I'm trying to set up an 'efficient' workflow for a colleague to deal with a significant amount of tedious roto work. I'd like to minimise the amount of clicks / work wherever possible. One thing that would help is being able to move/jump the playhead a set number of frames - with a single click / or key shortcut. Similar to 'Shift + page down' - but being able to specify a set number of frames - for example 8.
My hope is that this might be done with a 'simple' script that I could try and create as a learning exercise. However I do need to get this done reasonably quickly, so could anyone tell me:
1. Would this be possible with a script?
2. Can you point me in the right direction in terms of functions, or other stuff I should look up to get started?
Many thanks,
Mike
