instead of giving people exactly what they want ("I want to do this effect or this kind of script just give it to me") how about discussion of general concepts and tools so people can learn how to do it instead?


like, in mysql if i asked how do i show the first names from this table sorted by last name
and then i asked how do i show the phone number from that table sorted by area code, etc...
and each time someone had a question, the exact response would come up

but at no point in time did someone ever say this is exactly how sort work and it can take x, y, z as parameters and etc...

Well, those are nobel goals, but I think this would be impossible to pull off. What you want is analytic and process-oriented structured thinking and that can't really be learned this way. Teaching people how to disect and break up a problem into small steps goes way deeper than just organized code...
